Running from Ninja

Kurai ran from the pursuing leaf ninja, leaping from rock to rock over the swampy ground. Her agility gave her the advantage

Suddenly, a man in a white baboon pelt appeared in front of the ninja pursuing Kurai. The man seemed to eject tentacles from his body & impale the ninja on the tentacles.

stops running and looks back at the man as she catches her breath "...."
who's he?

The man then reached inside his pelt & pulled out a sphere like, pink jewel & it seemed to be pure. He then poured some of the dead ninja's blood on the jewel & the jewel turned black & became very corrupted. "Thank you my victims for kindly 'offering' your blood to my objective. Fufufufufufufufufufu" he laughed evilly.

kurai backed away a little, having heard about the jewel shards and their purpose "....."

"Well hello there. Who are you my dear?" he asked in a SEEMINGLY kind voice. Kurai could easily feel the man in front of her did not have a soul.

kurai's expression didnt soften as she looked at him "...Kurai Niwa...and may i ask for YOUR name?" she saw the man had no soul, she knew not to trust him

He chuckled. "My name is Naraku my dear" he said in a silky, aristocratic voice.

"Naraku...i've heard about you from many travellers like myself.."

"Oh? What have these travelers told you?" he questioned.

"your pursuit of the jewel shards...your desire for power...all there is to know about you really," turns to face him

"Both of those things are already done my dear. I have the jewel" he said, indicating to the black jewel in his hands "& the power" he said.

"i see..." her katana seemed to sense naraku's lack of a soul and it started to pulse

Her sword also seemed to sense that Naraku had no pulse what so ever.

places a hand on her katana to ease its movement

"I'll tell you a little secret. I found my own way to immortality. I basically........discarded my soul & heart & placed them somewhere safe. I cannot die in anyway what so ever" he said with a grin on his face, though it was hidden by the pelt.

shakes her head "i would hate immortality, watching the world corrode around you and not be able to end it all....it would be to difficult for me.."

"Ah, but when you have no one to care for, you actually love seeing the world decay while you never age, never die" he said, sounding a little sad but covered it up.

"no-one to care for...i dont...but that doesnt stop me from caring about my life..." turns around to leave

"How about when you have no one to care for you, leaving you alone forever, watching the one person you ever loved, knowing you can't have them because they love another?" he asked, sounding upset.

((He's talking about Kikyo))

sighs "then i'm afraid life goes on...you cant let heartbreak dominate your life...that in itself will kill you," not turning back

"About when your paralyzed & can't move anything but your eyes, falling in love with someone so you thought was perfect but then broke your heart to find out that the one you love loves someone else, making you hate everything that has to do with kindness or love, wallowing in nothing but hatred & vengeance, wanting everyone to regret ever hurting you, breaking your heart, making you turn your back on your very humanity just to get back at them, to kill them" he whispered but said it loudly enough for Kurai to hear.

"like i said...if you let this dominate you it WILL kill you, maybe not physically, but it will emotionally. Just let it go," sighs

"I can't. I've wallowed in hate & vengeance for 50 years. I don't know how to live on anything other then those two things" he mumbled, looking kind of like a kicked puppy, though it was unseen.

"well then find something else to live for....i had to..." starts to walk
