When the kekkei genkai is active it turns the user's eyes very dark blue with silver dots around the pupil. It grants the user the ability to see and hear spirits. If these spirits are relatives they can create a sheild around the user, protecting them in battle. It can also be used to keep enemies in one place by using souls to hold them there while the user attacks. The user can also extract souls but this uses a lot of chakra. It can use less chakra if the user is armed with the Niwa katana
